The London Coachmakers' Friendly Society was founded in 1842 or 1843. It was later renamed the London Coach Body and Carriage Makers' Trade Union and became the London and Provincial Coachmakers' Society in 1908. It was one of the four unions that amalgamated to form the National Union of Vehicle Builders in 1919.
